Our puppies are lavishly & sensibly reared. Always born in the home, so they get used to home surroundings & noises, they are given lots of cuddles & love. As they grow, and from about 5 weeks, they spend time outside with space to play & new sounds to hear. The puppies are reared on  a quality complete food Royal Canin. They have a good worming routine from 2 weeks, on top of the mother being wormed daily from her 40th day of pregnancy. New owners will be given comprehensive written information on diet, health, etc etc, 4 generation pedigree,  K/C Reg.certificate & 4/5 weeks free insurance cover.

All puppies will be microchipped & K/C Reg.before they leave.

The Whippet puppies have their front dew claws removed,  because whippets are prone to catching & tearing them if not. this is permissable in this breed. Both breeds are born without hind dew claws.

I offer a lifetime of help & support throughout your dogs life.

I DO NOT EXPORT ANY PUPPIES, PLEASE DO NOT ASK.

ALL PUPPIES REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES CARRY THE FOLLOWING K/C ENDORSEMENTS:-

a) Progeny not to be registered (both breeds),this may be lifted, but unlikely.  Please enquire for full details as the pups are not sold for breeding purposes.

b)Export pedigree not allowed. ( This may be lifted if the owner moves abroad )

If a genuine unfortunate circumstance arises that you should need to part with the dog you must not rehome or sell the dog without written permission from myself.  This will be within the contract. Dependant on circumstance I will take back or assist with rehoming of any dog under my Ashvillebur affix.

This is all in the welfare of the dogs & to ensure my puppies do not fall into the wrong hands.I do not want ANY of my puppies ending up in the wrong home.

New owners will be required to sign a contract in agreement to this.

When you take a puppy from me, you can be assured it has been loved & well cared for. My wish is for that to continue, I only home puppies to the very best sensible loving homes. So please expect lots of questions.

My puppies will not go to people that are out at work all, or most of the day.The puppies must have love, affection & human companionship. A regular dog walker is not enough, unless it is for the odd day. Along side exercise, patience, time, training & a secure garden & good veterinary practise. No flats. No  communal gardens or balconies. Rented accommodation may not always be agreed to be suitable, as it can be insecure & dog ownership or damage a problem.

Your home address & phone landline must be happily available to me before you visit me & my dogs. I will expect to meet the whole family.

Puppies are not a try & return commodity!

You cannot expect to take on the commitment of a puppy, try & return it & expect a refund. They are not a try for a couple of weeks or month & return whim. They will need housetraining, will puppy bite ( needle sharp teeth on your skin), may cry for a while & be very demanding & very tiring in the early weeks. They may dig the lawn & chew if not kept organised. So make sure you feel ready for this please. Keep the shoes etc away.Puppies are not naughty, they just explore & have games. It is up to you to keep them safe & your precious items safe.

They will also be adorable & thrive on kindness, firmness & routine, then quickly get easier.Whippets are just as lively, playful & excitable as most other breeds as puppies, it is not until older that they are couch potatoes most of the time, happy to be in a warm soft comfy spot near to you.

Tiggy above on the left.her sister Dory on the right.

Sadly Tiggy died at 11yrs old.

Whippets will also need a very comfy warm place in the home & sensitive gentle handling. They love to cuddle up on the sofa with you, which is fine, but must be taught to happily get off when asked!

They are happy with lots of walks or equally a short good run, they do not necessarily need lots of exercise, but do need warmth & company. Many are not keen to go out in the rain, but will rush out for a quick toilet moment. They will need a coat in cold or wet weather on a walk, unless it is a run in the field without a long walk. They cannot live outside, certainly not any I have brought ito the world.

Whippets are a very affectionate & good with kind gentle children., if they have been carefully brought though to adulthood with children supervised. Of course all dogs should be supervised at all times with young children. Whippets are sensitive, so need responsible supervision with children for the 1st year, to make sure they are treated properly, not layed on or made nervous by children trying to carry them etc

Ashvillebur Wish Come True "Ella"

The German Shepherds do need plenty of time for exercise, socialising & training to stimulate their active mind, training classes with other dogs are essential

This breed has the energy to work all day & is very intelligent. They are generally a naturally protective breed. If you do not have the time or energy to make the effort, this breed is not the one for you. They are not always very good with other dogs, apart from your own. They must have at least three walks a day, with one or two of those walks allowing a good run off lead. Training practise incorporated too. The garden is not enough! They also need you to be home with them, most of the time. It is very true that you only get out what you put in! You will be looking at a 2yr stretch of puppyhood with your German Shepherd. Patience is essential. When the going gets tough, you have to persevere.Training classes are a very good idea for socialising with other dogs etc.

In contrast to the Whippets, German Shepherds should not be allowed on the furniture & need good leadership skills from a calm assertive owner. A well brought up German Shepherd Dog makes a wonderful loyal family pet & natural protector. They can be a noisy breed & should not be left while young to get into bad habits.

They are very good with children if brought up sensibly with them & form a close bond, but again any dog should always be supervised when with young children. You must know your own dog & be totally responsible.

TO REPEAT... ALL young puppies are very very hard work, you must be commited before thinking of taking one, they are not a sale & return commodity or fad. Puppies can bite,  chew & race around, it takes time to train.
